Pastor Chris Olugbenga-Exploring the Power of Praise Part 2

The topic of this conversation is exploring the power of praise. Praise is both important and powerful, it creates the sensation of "more"... to give more, to appreciate more, to think more.

"Through the praise of children and infants, you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger." Psalm 8:2

There is power in a child’s praise. The Lord uses it to ward off enemies and silence evil. Its purity is unmatched. That’s why Jesus quotes this verse from the Psalms in his own ministry (Matthew. 21:16). That’s why Jesus welcomes the little children and challenges us to be like them to receive heaven’s blessing.

HALLELUYAH NIGHT

It's customary for us at LivingStone Bible Church to celebrate "Hallelujah Night" on every October 31st, which is traditionally celebrated as “Halloween” in most countries around the world.
The Bible records "point your kids in the right direction- When they're old they won't be lost". Proverbs 22:6

For Christians, however, there may be many reasons why we wouldn’t “celebrate” Halloween as a holiday. LivingStone Bible Church Youth Department believes that kids (everyone) should have an opportunity to have safe, godly fun. As Christians, we have much to “celebrate” so we make Hallelujah Night a fun adventure where youth and adults see the goodness of God through this event.

Hallelujah Night is fun for the whole family. We play games, share snack, candy, meet and mingle with others.

Late years we had fun and pictures don't lie...😄😉

Plug In with Pastor Chris: let God

Plug In With Pastor Chris:The Most Underrated Spiritual Train

We all know that we’re supposed to pray. We all have our own prayer “tactics,” such as prayer lists, prayer apps, prayer walks, prayer meetings, praying out loud, writing down our prayers, writing down the prayers we say out loud, and saying out loud prayers which have been written down.
In spite of all these tactics, I believe prayer is THE MOST underrated spiritual discipline. The simple fact is, I take prayer for granted. Because Christ has opened the way into the Holy Places, I can pray freely at any time of day. I can pray in the car, as I’m working, and while I’m watching my kids. Being able to pray so freely is an incredible, wonderful blessing. I think, however, that the freeness with which I can pray causes me to take prayer for granted.
Think for a moment of all that takes place when I pray.
The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit. (James 5:16–18)
This passage is mean to encourage us that God does real, incredible things in response to my prayers. When Elijah prayed, God actually altered weather patterns! When I pray, God does real, amazing, incredible things. He changes circumstances. He softens hearts. He intervenes with financial provision. He brings reconciliation. Prayer brings the Almighty God into the mundane details of my life.
Given all the astonishing things that happen when I pray, why do I treat prayer so lightly?

Plug In with Pastor Chris:Study the Ant

The brain of one and has 250,000 cells whereas the human brain has 10,000 Million brain cells. However, they probably use more of their cells than we do. What do you think?

There is a lot to learn from the Ants

Proverbs 6:6-9 "Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise...".

1. To perform with efficiency there must be a plan.

I believe that there are a lot of believers who are active, and churches that are filled with programs…..but they have no plan. They have no vision for the future. They have little if any idea as to what their function is, and which way they are going. As a church we must have a vision, we must be as wise as ants. We must make all that we do count for the kingdom.

2. To perform with efficiency there must be participation.
Many folks would lose their job if they worked on their job the way they do for the Lord. We often do things half-way, throw things together at the last moment

Ecc. 9:10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might........."

3. To learn about Partnership.

A quote from an evolutionist:

“On their own, each ant’s behavior is relatively useless, but when swarms of ants come together, the patterns optimize naturally and allow them to accomplish tasks that should be far beyond their reach. To the outside observer, their self-organizing efforts seem to be directed by some larger force or collective intelligence. Theirs is a society that is truly more than the sum of its parts.” Did you catch that phrase ……..”larger force”. We call that larger force God. He created the ant, and they fulfill their purpose!

Plug In with Pastor Chris:Fasting and Praying

Fasting and Praying are spiritual nuclear weapons that our belief in Christ has given us to destroy the strongholds of evil, wrong deeds, and usher in a great revival and spiritual harvest for our families and friends.

When we pray and fast, God promises that He will liberate us. He will lose the chains of injustice. He declares that He’ll untie the cords of the yoke and will give the oppressed their long-awaited freedom. He will set us free from the bondage of what others think.

In 2016, I read a book by Bishop David Oyedepo and he said understanding the Ultimate Purpose of Prayer and Fasting "We must also understand that prayer and fasting is God's commandment and a prescription for our continuous change of levels. For instance, when Jesus taught His disciples how to pray, He said: ...When thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking...Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head and wash thy face". (Matthew 5:6-7, 16-17)

2 Samuel 12:16 David pleaded with God for the child. He fasted and spent the nights lying in sackcloth on the ground.

Joel 2:12-13 “Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.

Personally, there are testimonies of God wonders in fasting and praying but you will read more about that on this blog someday.
